2025 Keynote Speaker Announced
Relatable! Exploring Difference & Relationality in Creative Writing Studies

The Creative Writing Studies Organization is excited to announce Katie Marya, Assistant Director of Composition at University of Nebraska–Lincoln, as the keynote speaker for the 2025 gathering of scholars, researchers, and writers exploring innovation in creative writing pedagogy.
Marya’s keynote address, “Not fixed in [our] places: How Movement Practices in Creative Writing are Shifting My Sense of Relation” introduces her scholarly line of inquiry on the intersections of creative writing pedagogy and movement studies, or dance pedagogy, sharing how she theorizes and applies techniques from the dance classroom to the writing classroom and to her own work as a translator and poet. Katie will also do a reading of her work during the conference.
Katie joins over 40 top scholars presenting papers, panels, workshops, round tables, and discussions on research-driven approaches to creative writing at our online conference.
